Mairead has been using Sowena over the last several years and it really has changed our lives for the better. My stress levels have significantly decreased for one as I no longer need to be constantly driving Mairead every where myself.
Mairead has no sense of direction, road safety or stranger danger and she is very disorganized and easily distracted. Catching public transport on her own puts her at high risk of being seriously injured.
With Sowena, Mairead is able to access the community to places she wants to go to safely.
I know, as her mother, she is picked up and in good care by courteous drivers and I’m reassured she will arrive safely at the other end and not left stranded in the street which could happen if she was in a taxi.
Sowena goes out of their way to please. On the odd occasion when I have been running late due to an appointment I have asked the driver if they can wait with her at home and make her a cup of tea. Mairead is not able to make a cup of tea without supervision as she coulf burn herself.
The staff are all very courteous and treat Mairead with the utmost respect. Peter and Nick are always willing to help get drivers for Mairead and nothing is too hard.
Since Sowena have come into our lives it is amazingly less stressful. Sowena has allowed Mairead more independence without her mother taking her every where and it frees me up to do things that I want to do and as a consequence of that Im a much lovelier carer for Mairead and a lovelier person overall.
